Stewart’s performing career has covered a wide range of theatrical areas, as a singer in opera, musicals and television to being an actor and after dinner speaker.
His roles have varied from the title role in the opera “Macbeth” to Billy Bigalow in “Carousel”.
As a highly respected performer of the works of Burns he has toured America and recorded the CD Rom and video of Burns’ life “Robert Burns – Caledonia’s Bard”. He has also written and filmed the docu-drama for Glasgow’s Tall Ship “The Glenlee”.
He worked regularly for The Council for Music in Hospitals and sang with Scottish Opera for a number of seasons. He directs numerous youth theatre companies around Scotland and regularly takes drama workshops for adults and children. Productions have included “Joseph”, “Return to the Forbidden Planet”, “Oliver”,”Wizard of Oz” “ Wedding Singer” and “Godspel”.
He has worked extensively with various Scottish Opera outreach programmes including their “Baby O” project.
Stewart has been teaching on the musical theatre course since 1998.
